Wallowa County Soroptimists report a successful Shred Day

WALLOWA COUNTY — Wallowa Country Soroptimist (WCS) had a very successful Shred Day recently with 84 vehicles stopping to have documents shredded. According to organizers, “Funds to go to projects which primarily support individuals and organizations within Wallowa County with a priority given to those activities benefitting women and girls.”

Below is a press release issued by WCS on this event.

“Wallowa County Soroptimists collaborated with DocuShred and the Enterprise branch of Spokane Teachers Credit Union to hold a very successful Shred Day on May 26^th, 2026. 84 vehicles came through the line to have documents shredded, filling 27 of DocuShred’s big containers. This service was provided for free with donations optional, gathering around $900 in contributions.

Shred Day Chair Sue Wagner says “We can’t thank STCU enough for their support and for partnering with us to make this another very successful Shred Day. People really appreciated it and want to know if we will be back next year. And we really hope that we will be.”

Besides providing a service to the community, the donations from Shred Day go into the Soroptimist budget to help fund the multiple programs Soroptimists support within the Wallowa County community.

Shred Day has been an annual Wallowa County Soroptimists tradition for at least 25 years.”
