WALLOWA COUNTY – Oregon Heritage, a division of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, recently announced the latest grant recipients in the Diamonds in the Rough and Preserving Oregon categories. In total, 20 grants were awarded, totaling $300,000 dollars for historic locations and archaeology projects across the state.
Two Wallowa County projects made the list this time, totaling $21,106 dollars.
The first project is for the completion of electrical work at the Administrative Lodge at the Maxville Townsite in Wallowa, overseen by the Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center. The project received $11,955 in grant funding, along with an equal match of $11,955 dollars.
The second project, overseen by Working Homes LLC, is for window restoration at the EM&M building. As written by Oregon Heritage:
“Working Homes LLC will repair and selectively replace the historic commercial windows at the EM&M building using historically appropriate materials and detailing consistent with the Secretary Standards for Rehabilitation.”
The organization originally requested $20,000 dollars, though received $9,151, along with a large match of $76,429 dollars.
