Wallowa County Fairgrounds Livestock auction is coming up. Why buy local?

ENTERPRISE – The Wallowa County Fair is going on right now, and there’s a lot more on offer than just culinarily questionable candied concoctions sold at open air-booths. For anyone looking to take home something nutritious, all while supporting local youth, the 4H and FFA livestock auction is set for Saturday, August 8, at 3:00 p.m.
That said, buying fair animals offers more benefits than just local produce and making a local student’s day. For anyone unconvinced, Enterprise High School ag teacher and FFA advisory Stephanie Schofield offers the following perks for choosing local livestock:
- Premium Quality Meat: Fair animals are raised with daily care, high-quality feed, and individual attention
- Support youth in 4-H and FFA: Your purchase helps local kids fund future projects, college, and teacher responsibility, work ethic, and leadership.
- Know your food source: Meet the exhibitor, ask questions, and know exactly how the food was raised and cared for.
- Custom processing: Choose your cuts, packaging, and extras like sausage or jerky. It’s your meat, your way.
- Keep Dollars Local: Your money stays right here in Wallowa County, supporting agriculture, education, and small businesses
Again, the Wallowa County fair is on now through August 8th, with the livestock auction set for this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
