Wallowa County Circuit Court convicts Jerry Michael Booze on domestic violence charges

WALLOWA COUNTY – (Release from the Wallowa County District Attorney’s Office) On January 23, 2026, Jerry Michael Booze, age 60, was found guilty in Wallowa County Circuit Court following a two-day 12-person jury trial, for conduct committed against his intimate partner of over 10 years.  

Booze was convicted of Strangulation, Constituting Domestic Violence (Class C Felony), Assault in the Fourth Degree, Constituting Domestic Violence (Class A Misdemeanor), Menacing, Constituting Domestic Violence (Class A Misdemeanor) and Harassment (Class B Misdemeanor) for conduct committed on or about November 29, 2022. 

Booze was convicted of Assault in the Fourth Degree, Constituting Domestic Violence (Class A Misdemeanor), Menacing, Constituting Domestic Violence (Class A Misdemeanor) and Harassment (Class B Misdemeanor) for conduct committed on or about September 10, 2023. 

Booze was convicted of Assault in the Fourth Degree, Constituting Domestic Violence and Menacing, Constituting Domestic Violence for conduct committed on or about February 27, 2024. 

A person commits the crime of Strangulation if the person knowingly impedes the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of the victim by applying pressure on the throat, neck, or chest of the victim, or by blocking the nose or mouth of the victim. A person commits the crime of Assault in the Fourth Degree if the person recklessly causes physical injury to the victim. A person commits the crime of Menacing if the person intentionally attempts to place the victim in fear of imminent serious physical injury. A person commits the crime of Harassment if the person intentionally harasses or annoys the victim by subjecting them to offensive physical contact.  

Conduct constitutes domestic violence if the person abuses the victim either by intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing the victim physical injury or by intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly placing the victim in fear of imminent serious physical injury and their victim is a family or household member. 

Booze was sentenced on January 26, 2026, by Judge Thomas Powers on these charges. Booze is currently serving a 60-day jail sentence. He was also placed on supervised probation for a period of 24 months. As a condition of probation, Booze must, if recommend, completed intake process to enroll in, participate in, cooperate with and successfully complete batterers intervention education with the Wallowa County Batterers Intervention Program, he may not possess any weapons, firearms, or ammunition, and is prohibited from having contact with the victim. Additionally, based on his convictions, Booze is prohibited from possessing firearms in the future.
