WALLOWA – (Information from Building Healthy Families) The Wallowa Bike Park officially opened to the community on Saturday, August 27 to a fan fair of roughly 250 attendees. The completion of the park marks the end of over a year’s worth of collaborative planning and fundraising spearheaded by Building Healthy Families.
Costing roughly $329,500 dollars and being constructed throughout August, the park includes a variety of obstacles and features for bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades including a pump track. The park also features rollers, tunnels, rings, and rock garden, teetertotters, green space for signage and seating areas.
Along with Building Healthy Families, the project was helped funded by Reser Family foundation, Roundhouse Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, Cycle Oregon, Schwemm Family Foundaion, Autzen Foundation, Juan Young Foundation, Woodgrain Lumber, Pacific Power Foundation, Wallowa County Rotary, Ronald Natio Foundation, Northwest Farm Credit Services, Walmart and the OCF 101 Community Grant along with various other fundraisers and donations from outside Wallowa County.
