WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health and its partners are canceling the second-dose vaccination clinics scheduled for Saturday and Monday due to inclement weather. The two clinics will combine into a single clinic on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents who received their first doses on Jan. 23 or Jan. 25 should arrive at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds at the same time they received their first-dose vaccine. Those who are unable to attend the rescheduled clinic should call DCH at 509-524-2647. On the recording callers should leave names, phone numbers, the dates of their first shots, and state that they are unable to attend the rescheduled clinic.
Those who are unable to attend will be contacted by DCH early next week to arrange a new time. The rescheduled clinic pushes the second-dose vaccinations outside the 17-21 day limit recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC reports that should not impact the effectiveness.
“The second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may be administered up to six weeks (42 days) after the first dose,” it states on the CDC website.
