Walla Walla police investigate death of 3-year-old child

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department is investigating the death of a 3-year-old child who suffered a medical emergency Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a medical assist call on the 1600 block of Evergreen Street at 1:02 p.m. Monday, according to WWPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Logan Morris.

First responders found the toddler experiencing an apparent medical emergency. Paramedics transported the child to the local hospital, where the toddler was later pronounced deceased.

WWPD did not disclose the nature of the medical emergency or the child’s identity.

Due to the circumstances of the death, detectives remained at the resident to process the scene under the authority of search warrants, Morris explained.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, and the investigation remains active.

Morris added no further information will be released at this time.
