WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department announced Wednesday the passing of retired police K9 Pick.

Pick, a Black Labrador affectionately nicknamed “Pickles” by fellow officers, was a dedicated drug detection K9 who served from 2014 until her retirement in 2020. Originally named by her breeder as the “pick” of the litter, she spent her career working on patrol and with the Street Crimes Unit alongside her handler, now-retired Sgt. Gunner Fulmer.

Through her impressive drive and specialized skills, Pick was responsible for removing a significant amount of illegal drugs from the streets, contributing greatly to the safety of the Walla Walla community. Upon her retirement, she successfully transitioned into a new chapter as a beloved family dog for the Fulmer family.

In her post-service life, Pick maintained the same high energy and enthusiasm she had displayed on duty, becoming known for her affectionate nature and “generous kisses”. Following her recent passing, she is remembered by the department and the community for her unwavering spirit, loyal service, and the immense joy she brought to those who knew her.
