PENDLETON — News release from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office:
On March 13th, 2021 at about 5:13 p.m. Umatilla County Dispatch center received a 911 call from Matt Sweeney of Walla Walla reporting 63 year old Eric Burmood, also from Walla Walla, had crashed his Honda Snow Bike and was suffering from severe injuries. The crash occurred about 8 miles southwest of Highway 204 on Summit Rd USFS 31.
The caller was administering first aid, however because of the injuries and snowy travel conditions to the nearest highway, he requested Life Flight. Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office snow patrol Deputies Rowen Hayes and Erik Palmer responded and arrived on scene at about 6:20pm. Life Flight was also requested and responded. Umatilla County Search and Rescue was activated in case additional assist was needed.
Deputy Palmer with UCSO was able to establish air to ground communications with the Life Flight air ambulance. The patient was lifted at approximately 6:43 p.m. and transported by Life Flight to Providence Medical Center.
