WALLA WALLA – D’Vonte Jackson Miller, 18, of Walla Walla pleaded not guilty Monday to all charges in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
Miller was arrested after an 18-year-old male victim, also from Walla Walla, reported Miller allegedly assaulted him on March 28. After being assaulted, the victim walked to a nearby, unrelated residence on the 6100 block of Cottonwood Road, where the homeowner called 911. The victim was then transported to the hospital.
The investigation by the Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force led to probable cause for Miller to be arrested. Miller allegedly struck the victim with the blunt end of a firearm, then fired a round in the direction of the victim. Both Miller and the victim know each other. Law enforcement said this was not a random act.
He’s been charged with two counts of assault in the first degree, drive-by shooting, assault in the fourth degree, and possession of a pistol by a person aged 18 to 21.
Miller is to return to court May 21 for a status hearing. The Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional team which consists of detectives from the Walla Walla Police Department, College Place Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington State Department of Corrections.
