WALLA WALLA – A Walla Walla man arrested last summer on multiple felony charges, including rape of a child, was sentenced Tuesday in Walla Walla County Superior Court. Julian David Saldana, 23, pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree. As part of the negotiations in this case, the state dismissed several other charges.
Following his arrest on June 5, 2024, Saldana was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on charges of third-degree rape of a child, second-degree rape, second-degree assault, supplying liquor to a minor, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, second-degree discharging a laser, intimidating a witness and bribing a witness.
Saldana’s arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation by the Walla Walla Police Department. The investigation started after police received a report that Saldana had sexually assaulted a juvenile. During the investigation, the juvenile victim reported to detectives that Saldana threatened them with a firearm after the initial sexual assault report had been made.
Judge Brandon Johnson sentenced Saldana to nine months with credit for 158 days served. He will not undergo electronic home monitoring, and he cannot own, use, or possess any firearms.
