WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Public Library has secured a $100,000 donation from Hayden Homes to fund a key portion of its ongoing renovation project.

The contribution specifically supports the development of the Hayden Homes Creativity Center, a dedicated space designed for youth engagement. Library Director Heather VanTassell said the center aims to provide a sense of belonging for young residents through hands-on learning and inspiration.

“The library is the place where our community comes together to grow, connect, and imagine,” VanTassell said.

The center will feature flexible workspaces, sinks for messy projects, and a floor-to-ceiling magnetic whiteboard wall. It will also serve as a hub for nonprofit partners, including PictureLab and Master Gardeners.

With this donation, the library has raised 77.9 percent of its $16 million renovation goal. The remaining funding has been sourced through government support, grants, and private donors.
