WALLA WALLA – Major road closures will begin today (Monday) as the city of Walla Walla launches the $1.3 million Hobson-Division-Madison infrastructure project.
The work will shutter Hobson Street between Clinton and Division streets, Division Street between Mill Creek and Alder Street, and Madison Street between Hobson and Alder streets. Construction is expected to continue through September.
Culbert Construction, Inc. of Pasco was awarded the contract in January to address aging infrastructure. The project includes replacing leaking steel water lines, installing a new sewer main on Division Street, and upgrading storm systems on Madison and Division.
Crews will also perform full-width road reconstructions, including new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Additionally, workers will install cement ADA ramps at the Hobson-Division and Hobson-Madison intersections.
While emergency vehicles and local residents will maintain access, the city confirmed that pedestrians will be prohibited from the work zones. The project is part of Walla Walla’s ongoing Infrastructure Repair and Replace Plan (IRRP) initiative.
