WALLA WALLA – Starting Monday, July 17, the city of Walla Walla will be conducting a 911 address-verification project. This project involves manually verifying addresses, points of entry, and locations of apartment suites, then updating the city’s 911 database as needed.
Fire Inspector Tim Thompson said having an accurate 911 database is essential so dispatchers can tell first responders the exact locations of entrances to buildings and apartments they are responding to.
City intern Nat Lange will be visiting apartment complexes and office buildings throughout the city to verify these details. To do this, Lange may need to be on these properties or enter the buildings.
He will be wearing apparel that identifies him as a city representative (see picture) and carrying business cards with his department’s contact information. The data-gathering aspect of this project is expected to run until Aug. 28.
