WALLA WALLA โ The victim in a Saturday hit-and-run has succumbed to their injuries, and a suspect is now in custody.
The Walla Walla Police Department (WWPD) says the 71-year-old male motorcyclist was in critical condition at a local hospital before succumbing to their injuries on Wednesday.
The incident happened at 6:43 p.m. at the intersection of West Poplar Street and South 11th Avenue. Multiple witnesses reported that the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. One witness took a photograph of the vehicle, which WWPD says greatly assisted in their investigation.
WWPD patrol officers located the suspect vehicle on Sunday and it was impounded pending a search warrant. The investigation led detectives to a local business where surveillance footage confirmed that 26-year-old Tycie Harper of Walla Walla was seen entering the driverโs seat of the suspect vehicle minutes before the incident.
On Thursday Harper turned herself in to WWPD, where she was interviewed before being booked into Walla Walla County Jail on a felony charge of hit and run attended, causing death. WWPD says Harper is cooperating with the investigation.
The victimโs name has not been released.
