Walla Walla hit and run victim succumbs to injuries, suspect in custody

WALLA WALLA โ€“ The victim in a Saturday hit-and-run has succumbed to their injuries, and a suspect is now in custody.

The Walla Walla Police Department (WWPD) says the 71-year-old male motorcyclist was in critical condition at a local hospital before succumbing to their injuries on Wednesday.

The incident happened at 6:43 p.m. at the intersection of West Poplar Street and South 11th Avenue. Multiple witnesses reported that the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. One witness took a photograph of the vehicle, which WWPD says greatly assisted in their investigation.

WWPD patrol officers located the suspect vehicle on Sunday and it was impounded pending a search warrant. The investigation led detectives to a local business where surveillance footage confirmed that 26-year-old Tycie Harper of Walla Walla was seen entering the driverโ€™s seat of the suspect vehicle minutes before the incident.

On Thursday Harper turned herself in to WWPD, where she was interviewed before being booked into Walla Walla County Jail on a felony charge of hit and run attended, causing death. WWPD says Harper is cooperating with the investigation.

The victimโ€™s name has not been released.
