WALLA WALLA COUNTY — Residents looking to declutter while protecting their identities can participate in the “Clean It Out for a Cause” event this weekend, hosted by Walla Walla Area Crime Watch.
The two-day fundraiser, held in conjunction with National Drug Take Back Weekend, offers on-site professional shredding for sensitive documents such as bank statements and medical records. Organizers noted that secure disposal is a critical step in combatting rising rates of identity theft.
The event kicks off Saturday at the Walla Walla Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A second session will take place on Sunday during the same hours in the College Place Walmart parking lot.
In addition to document destruction, attendees can safely dispose of unused or expired medications. While the service helps residents secure their personal information, donations collected during the event will directly benefit Walla Walla Area Crime Watch’s community safety programs.
