WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing to discuss establishing speed limits on several gravel roads aimed at improving safety and reducing maintenance costs.
The hearing is set for Monday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the commissioners’ chambers at the Walla Walla County Public Health and Legislative Building, located at 314 W. Main St.
The move comes at the request of Public Works Director Dan Mack, who cited the results of a comprehensive speed study. The proposed limits would primarily affect gravel mountain roads and those located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.
“The action is due to high maintenance and safety concerns on these roads,” Mack said.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the hearing to provide testimony on the proposed changes before the board takes formal action.
