Walla Walla County firefighters respond to brush fire along Snake River

PRESCOTT – Firefighters from the Walla Walla North County Fire District and Walla Walla County Fire District No. 8 responded to a fire Saturday along the Snake River.
Crews responded to an area near the grain elevator on Sheffler Road west of Prescott. The fire burned in heavy brush and trees and was said to be very difficult to access.
Air resources were requested which included two scooper planes and a helicopter. It took firefighters 14 hours to get the fire extinguished.
WWCFD No. 8 Chief Bob Clendaniel said the fire burned about 300 acres and the cause is under investigation.
