Walla Walla County fire districts to host annual Firewise meetings

WALLA WALLA COUNTY — Local fire officials are urging residents living in wildfire-prone areas to attend upcoming safety meetings as the fire season intensifies.

Walla Walla County Fire Districts 4 and 8 will host their annual Firewise meetings this week for residents within the wildland-urban interface. The sessions will focus on evaluating wildland fire potential and teaching homeowners how to make their properties more defensible against fast-moving blazes.

The first meeting, hosted by District 4, is scheduled for tonight (Wednesday) at Station 45 at 6549 Mill Creek Rd. in Walla Walla. District 8 will hold its meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at the Dixie Fire Hall at 10145 East Highway 12. Both meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.

State and federal wildfire partners may also attend to discuss resiliency programs.
