WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Auditor’s Office reports 15,288 ballots from the Aug. 6 primary election were counted and the results certified Tuesday. However, the ballots will be counted again by hand.
Elections Supervisor Morgen Bradshaw-Morgan said the county’s canvassing board will hold an open public meeting today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. to discuss and set a date and time for the mandatory statewide hand recount of the Commissioner of Public Lands race.
Locally, for a second time, Walla Walla County Fire District No. 5’s levy request failed. Results showed a difference of just 52 votes with opponents in the majority. The district has not requested a recount.
Walla Walla County’s primary election turnout rate was 40.89 percent.
