WAITSBURG – Welding can be a valuable skill in many industries, and thanks to a grant from Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, students in Waitsburg are getting a leg up in the field.

The funds came from OSPI’s Non-Traditional Fields Grant and allowed Waitsburg Secondary School to purchase 15 new welding kits for students. As an added bonus, the students get to keep their welding kits.

“The new equipment gives students even more opportunities for hands-on learning while helping them build valuable skills and explore future career pathways in welding and the skilled trades,” said Waitsburg School District in a statement on its Facebook page. “We’re excited to see these tools put to work in the classroom and beyond!”
