WALLA WALLA — Rep. Skyler Rude (R-Walla Walla) announced this week he will resign from the Washington House of Representatives on Oct. 31 to become legislative director for the Office of the Washington Secretary of State.
Having represented the 16th Legislative District for eight years, Rude accepted the position Sept. 22 and begins his new duties Nov. 1.
In his new position, Rude will support agency operations overseeing state elections and historical records.
“Leaving is bittersweet, but I’m grateful that my next role brings together two things I care deeply about: Washington’s history and the integrity of our elections,” Rude said.
