HERMISTON – Steven Shane Turnbow, 42, of Burbank was arrested Friday on felony charges of first-degree theft and related crimes at Northeast 10th Street and East Diagonal Boulevard in Hermiston.

Police Chief Jason Edmiston says that earlier in the week a person reported an unidentified driver of a Toyota Tacoma pulling a utility trailer stole his John Deere riding lawnmower from the side of his residence on Southwest Desert Sky Drive. The mower is valued at $3,100.

The theft was captured on a neighbor’s surveillance camera. Edmiston said the suspect’s vehicle was primarily white with a red left front fender and the paint on the vehicle was rough as if a grinder was used on it.

HPD Sgt. Leonard Stokoe spotted that suspect vehicle towing the same trailer in the pictures provided by the surveillance camera. He performed a traffic stop and took Turnbow into custody.

Edmiston said HPD worked with Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office deputies to recover the lawnmower from Turnbow’s residence in Burbank and return it to its owner in Hermiston.
