OLYMPIA – The Washington State House of Representatives unanimously passed a bipartisan bill from Rep. Mark Klicker (R-Walla Walla) on Thursday that would allow local governments to share tax revenue.
House Bill 2428 would help cities and towns work together on economic development by combining their resources and efforts to attract more businesses. This would be done by allowing them to voluntarily enter interlocal agreements to share a portion of general-purpose sales and use tax revenue.
Two local cities – Walla Walla and College Place – are looking into a sales tax sharing agreement. The bill now heads to the state Senate for further consideration.
