Wa-Hi names new head varsity boys’ basketball coach

WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla High School has appointed Spencer Hessler as the new head varsity boys’ basketball coach. He takes over from Adam Berg who accepted an assistant coaching position with the Whitman College men’s basketball team.
Hessler has over a decade of coaching experience, having worked at Lincoln High School and Walla Walla High School for the past 11 years. Most recently, he served as the assistant head coach for the Blue Devils. A 2009 graduate of Walla Walla High, Hessler was a successful athlete in football, basketball, and track, helping the basketball team reach the state tournament.
In addition to basketball, Hessler has been the head track coach at Pioneer Middle School for 10 years and teaches physical education at Lincoln High School.
Hessler expressed his excitement about the coaching role, highlighting his connection to the program. He aims to create a competitive culture that promotes development, relationships, and strong fundamentals both on and off the court.
