Volunteers make quick work of Murphy Bridge Project in Wallowa County recently

WALLOWA COUNTY – Recently, a group of five volunteers attacked the Murphy Bridge project in one very long day.  According to Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association, โ€œThere were a few small issues along the way – including a downed tree with an ugly root wad looming above – but these proved no obstacle with so many capable hands involved.โ€

In addition, volunteers โ€œreplaced the broken and rotted deck plank, replaced and shored up an end upright post, and put on a new railing for the bad side (with fancy routed edge and custom lap joints, thanks to Max Linn). They also hauled out a cache of garbage accumulated from upstream.โ€

The association noted that three rattlesnakes made guest appearances, a reminder that they love clearing trails almost as much as our volunteers.
