BAKER CITY — The Rotary Club in Baker City is shining a light on one of its cherished members. The club recently recognized Dotty Miles as being “a true community champion.”
According to a recent release, every Monday, Dotty makes special stops at businesses throughout the community to collect recyclable plastic for the club’s NexTrex Recycling Program. Dotty then makes her way into the weekly Baker City Rotary meeting. She gathered all the bagged plastic that’s shown in the cover photo.
The club wrote, “Thanks to her dedication (and the efforts of so many others), we are right on track to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic and earn a free bench made from recycled materials for our community.”
Club members are inviting more people to join Dottie and others in volunteering to collect plastic. Collection help is especially needed in the Sumpter and Huntington areas. Those interested in providing help can contact the Baker City Rotary Club for more information.
