WALLA WALLA – Police and Walla Walla city officials are working to find out who is vandalizing the new concrete being poured as part of the Poplar Street project in downtown Walla Walla.
City staff said having to repair or replace the damaged concrete costs the contractor time and money, takes crews away from their scheduled work, and delays completion of the project. The contractor plans to keep personnel on site after the concrete is poured to watch over the work.
Meanwhile, the Walla Walla Police Department will be conducting emphasis patrols after dark. If anyone witnesses property being damaged in a work zone or anywhere else for that matter, they are asked to call dispatch at 509-527-1960 promptly. Police also welcome information regarding those who might be behind past acts of vandalism.
