PENDLETON – Umatilla County Public Health begins the first of what it hopes will become regular weekly COVID-19 vaccinations. The first clinic will be held at the Pendleton Convention Center Thursday from noon-4 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Director Joseph Fiumara says this first event is limited to people in groups 1-4 of Phase 1-A of the state’s vaccination priorities. That includes front-line health care workers, first responders, prison employees, and home-care workers. It’s a long list.
“Folks in some residential treatment settings, your behavioral health residential settings, your dentists, your pharmacies, your out-patient doctors’ offices,” he listed.
A complete list is available on the Umatilla County Public Health website and Facebook page.
Fiumara said the decision was made to schedule the event in Pendleton because Good Shepherd Medical Center is offering vaccinations on that end of the county.
“Our intention by holding this in Pendleton is to have it be kind of the centered place for the east county, and we’ll continue to make adjustments and move to new locations as we need to,” Fiumara said.
Fiumara said that his department wants to see it become a regular event, but that depends on supplies of the vaccine. Those who get vaccinated this week will receive information about how to receive their second shots in four weeks.
