MISSION – Bryson Stewart Azure, 28, was arrested by Umatilla Tribal Police Officer Jon Lehman in Pendleton Tuesday for an incident that occurred on May 21 according to UTPD Chief Timothy Addleman. Tribal police were tipped to Azure’s location by the Pendleton Police Department and he was taken into custody in the 300 block of Southeast Seventh Street.
Addleman said the charges against Azure stemmed from a domestic violence case that was reported to his department the day after it occurred.
“The victim reported that she was forced to drive the suspect around for several hours against her will while within and outside the exterior boundaries of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and through multiple jurisdictions,” Addleman wrote. “During this time, the victim was threatened with a knife and physical harm. The victim sustained injuries caused by the suspect as they drove on and off the reservation.”
UTPD made repeated attempts to locate Azure before the tip from Pendleton. The Tribal charges against Azure are kidnapping, domestic abuse, and menacing. He is also lodged on Oregon state charges of first-degree kidnapping, menacing, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and first-degree robbery.
