MISSION – The Umatilla Tribal Fire Department is about to move into its new headquarters. Confederated Umatilla Journal Editor Lisa Snell took a tour recently and came away impressed.
“It’s set up so nicely,” she said. “These huge bays for the trucks and the equipment.”
It’s also a place that offers comfortable quarters to the on-duty crew.
“These guys that work this job, they’re on call, they’re 24 hours, they’re there for extended periods of time and it’s set up so comfortably for them,” she said.
She was impressed with the training areas, conference rooms, small bedrooms, lounge area, and huge kitchen. She said it will enable the workers to do their jobs better.
The move-in day for the new facility is Nov. 6. It is located east of Mission Market on Mission Road.
