PASCO — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will apply herbicide treatment to combat invasive flowering rush at Osprey Point during the week of July 14.
Officials scheduled the chemical application for Wednesday, July 15 using Aquastrike, an herbicide containing diquat and endothall. USACE will post shoreline warning notices 48 hours before work begins.
While the treatment will not restrict swimming or fishing, USACE announced several water-use limitations. Animals should not drink the treated water for 24 hours. Additionally, the public faces a three-day restriction on using the water for drinking or landscape irrigation, and a five-day restriction for watering food crops.
Environmental concerns can be reported to the Environmental Protection Agency at 206-553-1846 or the Washington State Department of Ecology at 306-407-6600.
