LA GRANDE – (Information provided by La Grande Economic Development) The City of La Grande’s Urban Renewal Agency (URA) is extending the deadline for accepting grant applications for the Call for Projects program to May 28, 2021, at 5 pm due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Each fiscal year, the La Grande Urban Renewal Agency (URA) has a limited amount of funding to allocate toward public/ private development projects within the Urban Renewal District. To be considered for this year’s funds, application must be received by this deadline. According to Urban Renewal District Manager, Robert Strope, “We know people may be interested in doing a project this year but given the uncertainty of the pandemic, were not be ready to submit their application by the April cutoff. We hope that by extending the deadline by a month it will give them time to put together their applications so the Agency can consider it when they meet to award this year’s project funding.”
Application forms and information packets are be available online at http://www.cityoflagrande.org/muraProjects/muraLAG/lagcity/index.cfm/city-offices/community-development/. You may also request a packet via email by contacting Kendra VanCleave at KVanCleave@cityoflagrande.org. In order to be considered for Urban Renewal funding, potential projects must be located within the City of La Grande’s Urban Renewal District, apply to physical building or site improvements (generally limited to exterior improvements only). Approved projects should be ready to begin construction in time to be completed by December 30, 2022. Funding is limited to the amount budgeted by the URA.
