La Grande – According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, a blast that was to occur Wednesday has been moved to today (Thursday), on a Highway project on 244 (between Red Bridge and Starkey). The blasting will closure the highway for 2-hours, from noon to 2:00 pm.
A $1.5 million dollars construction project on Highway 244 between Starkey and Red Bridge State Park, from milepost 35 to 36 will continue for a few weeks. Re-aligning the highway is taking place, stabilizing the slope adjacent to the Grande Ronde River. Also, a short retaining wall is being constructed.
During work hours, traffic will be controlled by flaggers. During non-work hours, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.
