Update on Lake County School District #7 losing a student

LAKE COUNTY (Released from Lake County District Attorney)-UPDATE: The Lake County Grant Jury returned an indictment for Nathan Cullins and Amanda Edwards as follows:
Nathan Cullins: County 1: Murder; Count 2: Murder by Abuse; Count 3 Abuse of Corpse in the Second Degree; Count 4: Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree
Amanda Edwards: Count 1: Murder by Abuse; Count 2: Abuse of a Corpse in the Second Degree; Count 3: Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree
On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 3:44 PM, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police assisted Department of Human Services-Child Welfare with the service of a court ordered protection order. The protection order was for a 17-year-old juvenile reported to be living at 300 block of South G Street in Lakeview, Oregon 97630.
The mother of the juvenile, Amanda Edwards (38), and mother’s boyfriend, Nathaniel Cullins (31) were detained after law enforcement made entry into the residence. Law enforcement conducted a search and located the juvenile deceased on the property.
The Lake County Major Crime Team was activated to investigate the juvenile’s death. The Oregon State Police is lead on the investigation.
Law enforcement believes there is no active threat to the community.
The Lake County Major Crime Team consists of the Lake County District Attorney’s Office, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon State Police.
