UNION/UMATILLA CO – (Information provided by ODOT)) Work on I-84 from MP 241.0 to MP 248.5 for week of May 9-13

Deterioration and potholing of the WB pavement from very wet weather and heavy traffic has resulted in a temporary change to the traffic pattern so that extensive patching can be safely completed.  There will remain a single lane in each direction, but EB traffic has been moved back the EB side of the freeway through Wednesday when the patching is expected to be complete.  At that time, EB traffic will be moved back to the planned opposing traffic configuration.

Work on the closed EB side of the freeway will include removal of existing asphalt in the slow lane where new concrete pavement will be constructed and the fast lane where new asphalt will be placed once the patching is completed this week.  Trucks will be entering and leaving the work zone into live traffic at both ends of the project all week, so please use caution when driving through.

The patching crews will be working immediately adjacent to WB traffic Monday thru Wednesday, so please be extra aware as you drive through.

The posted speed limit both directions is 50 MPH through the work zone so please slow down and plan extra time.  OSP will continue to have an increased presence at times to help keep the work zone safe for everyone.
