Harney County (Released by the Harney County Emergency Manager)-Harney County is at 13.25 ft as of 8am this morning but water is still moving well and upstream we’re on the downward side of the water, until it starts raining.
The Silvies at HWY 78 is running hard but still under the bridge. What we’re seeing is instead of over-running the roadways it’s moving laterally through the fields. So a lot of fields on HWY 78 out to the airport curve had a lot of water but no homes, barns or shops have water near them.
Riverside Drive in Burns is running hard but has come down although there is still some seep on the roadway at the curve where it’s been coming up. Culverts and ditches on Date Street are doing their job and Burns RV Park is still pumping water out of their back lot. The house next to it has a lot of water but they have sandbags as does Ruthies. Water is still high on the Brinkley property but he has a back way to come and go from Stanclift.
On Stanclift there is some water that has over run the sandbags slightly and is receding but I spoke with Eric Drushella who will have his crew put some signs out.
Foley looks great and Manuel Mose from the Tribe advised they have sandbagged on Paiute Street where there was previous flooding in the past as a precaution.
West Loop near the Martinak’s has water running across the whole road now where on Friday there was just a little on the roadway but the Road Department had already put out signage. It’s not deep.
Other than that, as in previous flooding, we’re not seeing the issues so mitigation and preparedness goes a long way from what we did in 2018 to prepare us for now.
Please keep putting out there that sandbags are available. For questions or concerns, please call 541-413-3601
