Upcoming guardrail repair to affect traffic on Black Mountain Road near Mason Dam

BAKER CITY –  (Release by Wallowa-Whitman National Forest) Forest Service personnel will begin repairs of a damaged guardrail on Black Mountain Road next to Phillips Lake, near Sumpter, Friday, December 8 through Saturday.

Traffic will be unable to pass while the repairs take place for the safety of the public and the crew.

The road is in the Whitman Ranger District, Black Mountain (Forest Service Road 1145); the section of the damaged guardrail will be replaced and is expected to take the full two days. Forest Service Road 1145 will be closed at the junction with Oregon Highway 7 near Mason Dam. The road will be open for public traffic on Sunday, December 10.

The construction will not affect traffic on Highway 7. However, the public is asked to drive cautiously in the area as construction vehicles enter and exit the highway.
