Up the Ranks and up the Ladder, La Grande Fire Captain Promoted to Deputy Fire Chief

LA GRANDE – The City of La Grande Fire Department recently announced that now-former, B-Shift Captain Merle Laci has officially been promoted to Deputy Fire Chief. As described by the La Grande Fire Department, Deputy Chief Laci has been with local emergency services for over 30 years, originally working for the Elgin Fire and later ambulance services before joining the La Grande Fire Department in 2006. In 2019, Lacie was promoted to Captain of the B-Shift and has, as best put but the LGFD, “continued his climbing of the ladder, (both figuratively and physically)!”
The official pinning ceremony was held on Monday, August 28. Congratulations to Deputy Chief Laci and thank you for your continued work in service of the community.
