Unknown wolves kill two more sheep near Lostine, ODFW confirms

WALLOWA COUNTY – ODFW has confirmed two additional wolf depredations in Wallowa County, both occurring in the Lostine area on private land. The first incident, recorded on June 11, resulted in one dead ewe, while the second incident, recorded on June 13, resulted in one dead yearling sheep. In both cases, the depredations were attributed to an as-of-yet-known wolf or group of wolves in the area.

The most recent incident marks the 11th confirmed wolf depredation in Wallowa County for 2024. In total, according to ODFW wolf reports, confirmed depredations have accounted for 1 dead yearling cow, 1 dead bull, 1 injured calf, 2 dead calves, 20 dead sheep of various ages, 1 injured lamb, and an additional dead lamb listed as “probable” rather than “confirmed.”
