WALLA WALLA COUNTY โ€“ An investigation is underway into the derailment of a Union Pacific freight train about three miles south of Wallula at 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Robyn Tysver with Union Pacificโ€™s Media Team reports about a dozen railroad cars carrying grain derailed. No one was injured.

Grain did spill, but Tysver said it did not impact the water. The spillage was contained to the railroadโ€™s right of way.

Cleanup is underway, with the derailed railcars expected to be cleared from the tracks sometime this evening (Saturday).
