UNION COUNTY – On the morning of Friday, January 16, the Oregon State Police and local EMS responded to a single vehicle rollover crash along Highway 203. The wreck was reported at around 9:38 a.m. near milepost 9 near Hot Lake. A northbound Buick Century reportedly left the roadway and rolled. The driver, 68-year-old Clarence William McCormick Jr. of Union, though reportedly injured, thankfully survived and was transported to Grande Ronde Hospital.
A full summary of the crash, as provided by Oregon State Police in a recent press log, is as follows:
“On the stated date and time, I responded to a single vehicle injury rollover crash near MP 9 on SR-203A. Upon arrival I observed a silver passenger car with heavy damage approximately 25 feet off the roadway. The male driver had major injuries to his left hand. Road evidence indicated the vehicle had left the roadway while traveling northbound, the driver over corrected and crossed both lanes of travel, rolling the vehicle.
The vehicle came to an uncontrolled stop on its wheels. Emergency personnel transported the male to Grande Ronde Hospital and Fenns Towing and Repair recovered the vehicle. The driver was warned for Fail to Drive Within Lane and for Failure to Properly use Safety Belts.”
