BAKER COUNTY – Just before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10. The Oregon State Police responded to a call from a passenger in a vehicle claiming to have been kidnapped by the driver. The call and subsequent police intervention occurred along I-84 Eastbound near milepost 313 (roughly 10 miles southeast of Baker City) and a nearby, unnamed, dirt road.

“The Oregon State Police received a call from a passenger in a vehicle (silver Durango) claiming to be kidnapped by the driver. The Durango exited the interstate and continued driving on a dirt road. The victim decided to jump from the moving Durango once the speeds had slowed. The Durango ultimately crashed, and the driver was taken into custody, Law Enforcement later located the victim and brought her to a safe location. Both individuals were interviewed by OSP, and the driver was later lodged into the Baker County Jail. Charges are being sent to the Baker County District Attorney’s Office for consideration. The Oregon State Police were assisted by the Baker City Police Department and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.”
