Union FFA awarded $10,000 from ACH Seeds’ to expand student agricultural opportunities

UNION – (Press release ACH Seeds) As one of Oregon’s oldest and most established FFA chapters, Union FFA has been developing agricultural leaders for generations. The $10,000 award will help the chapter expand hands-on learning opportunities for students while strengthening community resources across Union County.
Union FFA has been recognized for its long-standing commitment to agricultural education, student leadership development and community service. Chapter members regularly support local events, assist residents with community improvement projects, and help prepare facilities for the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show.
Nominated by local sugarbeet growers and longtime supporters of agricultural education, Union FFA plans to use the $10,000 to establish a student Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) grant program, as well as support its collaborative “Gather and Grow” community resource initiative.
“We were blown away and incredibly grateful to receive this award,” said Hailee Jameson, agricultural education and FFA advisor at Union High School. “This grant allows us to take ideas we’ve had for years and finally bring them to life”.
One example of a recent SAE project is a student-led agricultural science experiment inspired by hydroponics and plant growth research. The project has helped spark new interest in FFA participation and highlights how hands-on learning can connect students to agriculture in meaningful ways.
In addition to supporting student projects, a portion of the Homegrown Giving award will advance the chapter’s “Gather and Grow” initiative by equipping its shared mobile cargo trailer with banquet seating, enhancing its ability to support educational, agricultural, and community events.
