LA GRANDE – Megan Browne, Union County Victim Advocate, has been recognized with an award for her outstanding partnership with the FBI.
When asked about receiving this award, Browne said that she and Rianna Bridge assisted a main witness/victim in an international sweepstakes fraud case. Noting that they used local resources to assist the FBI in getting this witness/victim to the courtroom for testimony. Browne said that they “found it challenging for FBI officials to facilitate needs and travel in a small rural area such as La Grande, so our assistance and knowledge of the area was beneficial.”
Involvement with the FBI came after the “FBI reached out to our office to ask questions about us assisting in getting them in contact with a local victim, said Browne. “We (my counterpart, Rianna Bridge) built a relationship with this individual, got a phone so communication could happen with the FBI and to use during their travels, transported to and from the airport, and made sure adequate resources were available during their travels.”
Browne says that the award itself has the following information.
“The FBI extends its appreciation for your outstanding assistance in a joint investigation effort. Your contributions were immeasurable, and you have the gratitude of the FBI for all you did to help accomplish the objectives of the investigation. You can be proud of the role you played, and I join my associates with whom you worked in congratulating you on a job well done.”
When asked how she felt about receiving this award Browne said, “I appreciate the FBI showing their gratitude for our assistance. The Victim Assistance Program, and all of our advocates are always willing to step in and assist victims.”
