UNION COUNTY – Practice makes perfect, and when it comes to public safety, nothing less than perfect will do. Over the past week, the Union County Sherriff’s Office (and some dedicated role players) conducted multiple crisis training scenarios, with an emphasis on team building. Going into further detail on the training, the Union County Sheriff’s Office wrote on social media:
“This training was built to have them depend on each other, instead of our partnering agencies. The scenarios came from real calls we’ve taken, but allowed those who were role playing to feel out the situation and act accordingly. Those involved used simulation ammunition, which means deputies and role players were shot with “ammunition.” This amped up the realness of the situation. Deputies had to always be situationally aware because role players were told to take the shot if presented the chance. Training is vital for our department and the deputies performed very well during all the scenarios.
We want to thank our role players. They did a fantastic job and without them we wouldn’t have been able to train.”
