LA GRANDE – In rural communities like Union County, volunteer organizations often do much of the heavy lifting for public services, be it fire, medical, or other types of response and prevention. Volunteers sacrifice their own time, balance training and response with their regular jobs and personal lives, and don’t rely on paid compensation. Nonetheless, volunteer programs still rely on donations and grants to keep running. Tap That Growlers, located in La Grande, is putting together something special to keep the Union County Search and Rescue Team well funded.
Tomorrow, Friday, April 10th, from 4-8 P.M. Tap That Growlers will host a fundraiser dinner to to support SAR. A portion of all proceeds from the evening will be donated to Union County SAR, with Loveland Safe Ride volunteering their services until 10:00 p.m. that night. There will also be one door prize given out each hour.
Fundraisers like this are critical to keeping Union County SAR, as well as other volunteer organizations, well supplied and their volunteers trained and ready. As written by Union County SAR in a previous post:
“The SAR Association uses these funds to pay for essential SAR functions such as fuel used on missions, volunteer training, equipment maintenance and acquisition, etc. We hope to see you on the 10th for some great food and company!”
