UNION COUNTY – The Union County Retired Education Association recently received recognition at the state convention in Lebanon, Oregon. The local unit was recognized as being a Unit of Distinction, and an honor for Communication to the State.
Gerald Hopkins said, “Members recognized were Anne Rodriguez for Outstanding Unit work, Sharon Holstadt the Star Award Finalist for the most hours in volunteer work, and Mary Hopkins the Voluntary Literacy Award.”
Hopkins notes that a check representing the value of volunteer hours given to communities all across Oregon totaled $1,262,305.
The awards and photos of unit activities are on display at the La Grande Schools District Office.
