UNION COUNTY – During a regular meeting of the Union County Board of Commissioners yesterday, March 4, Union County Public Works Director Doug Wright announced that the county had been awarded a $150 thousand dollar grant from the Oregon Department of Aviation. The funds, along with matching FAA grants, will help complete the second phase of the Southwest Hangar Taxi-Lanes construction project.
When completed, the project will offer additional hangar and aircraft storage capacity at the La Grande Airport. According to Wright, around 40 aircraft are currently on the waiting list for housing at the airport. The commissioners approved public works to accept the grant.
