Union County Pursuit ends with Arrest

LA GRANDE – Initial information from the Union County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 6:21pm the Union County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Pendleton, that failed to stop. A pursuit ensured out of La Grande on Highway 237 (Island City to Cove Highway), then onto Highway 203 (La Grande to Union Highway) where the La Grande Police Department and Oregon State Police joined the pursuit.
The suspect vehicle was spike stripped twice on Highway 203. As the vehicle entered La Grande city limits the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. The driver continued traveling in a reckless manner, reportedly traveling the wrong way in town.The suspect vehicle was located on Chestnut in La Grande after colliding with another vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended near Jefferson and Depot. No injuries were reported during this incident. Arrested: Eduardo Linares-Cervantes DDOB: 06-26-1996
